In India, the urban elite grip on history and culture has been more entrenched because here the subordinate majority was for centuries denied access to education under Shastric injunctions. Under such repressive system, the elite stifled all cultural expression and creativity of the underprivileged. The rural non-elites who tried to overcome the system were brutally suppressed. The visionary leaders like Jotirao Phule, Rajarshee Shahu, and Ambedkar stressed the need to construct new paradigms of history and culture, but it was not possible without knowledge and education. Without education, it was impossible to achieve the solidarity of the oppressed against their tormentors. In India, this tradition is to be found in the great civilizing and humanizing work of the Buddha. This creative and anti- hierarchical legacy was carried forward in modern India by Phule, Periyar, Shahu, Ambedkar, Gandhi, etc. Aanandrao Dada Shinde is one who contributed to this legacy by establishing Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha at Kavathe Mahankal with the motto: ‘Sammadittheesamadan’. Padmabhushan Vasantraodada Patil College caters to the demand for education, cultural expression and creativity of the underprivileged.

Our college provides not only appropriate teaching-learning experiences to the learners but also prepare them to assimilate Indian Constitutional values such as Justice, Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Secularism and Socialism. The teachers in India today will have to come to terms with the cultural context within which they live and work.  The most important aspect of this cultural context is that there exists an artificial hierarchy of knowledge imposed on us; however, we observe the oneness of teaching, learning and monitoring the overall performance of students to ensure the achievements of the course objectives. Any real learning is possible only when there is riyaj and it is the responsibility of our college to provide the necessary experiences to learners for their riyaj; the riyaj for  learning, so that our college can gear up to transcend the regional image and emerge as the Quality institute of higher education.
